The isolated, mysterious Iron is a small village that was deserted after the plague of 1630 and is now inhabited for just brief periods at a time by a number of Ragoli families. The characteristic homes positioned up against each other are located on a plateau between the amphitheater of the terraced fields and the lovely meadow basin where the village’s well is found. At some distance from the village, there is the quaint San Giacomo church
