11. San Giovanni Battista Church

This medieval church was later altered in the 16th century when it was frescoed by Simone Baschenis II and his son Filippo. A number of scenes have been lost, but St. Christopher, two saints, and the sacra conversazione (sacred conversation) of the Virgin with Child amidst St. John the Baptist and St. Job have all survived. The church is nestled in a wood of birch and maple trees as part of the marvelous cultural landscape that is typical of Val Rendena
