Laura Pirovano, the new juniores world champion in giant slalom
Laura Pirovano: born in 1997, from Spiazzo Rendena, champion in the polyvalent alpine skiing. On February 2015 she had her first giant race in the World Cup in Lienz. She gained the third place in the general classification of the Europa Cup and the fifth place in the giant slamom classification. With her win on March 2017 in Sweden, she has become the new world champion in the giant slalom. In the season 2016-17, she got also the gold medal in the combined for the Italian Championships.
The knee injury in January 2018 forced her to stop her competitive season prematurely. She is shining again when she awarded the eleventh place in the World Cup Downhill in Bansko in the season 2019/2020 and the 5th place in the World Cup Downhill in St. Anton in the season 2020/21.
