Cycle route through the flowers

Cycle Route Through The Flowers title=

Pedal along the cycle route from the Dolomites to Lake Idro and fill your eyes with the colours and scents of spring

60 km of cycling road

During the flowering season, the meadows from Carisolo to Lake Idro are transformed into a unique palette of colours, as unique as the beauty of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park that surrounds them.

New this year is the cycle path linking the Val Rendena cycle path (25 km) with that of the Valle del Chiese (28 km of cycle path alternating with stretches on low-traffic roads).
The new connection starts in Tione di Trento, continues to the village of Bolbeno and then connects to the village of Bondo along the Madonna del Lares road (the section has significant gradients and is mixed with car traffic).

over 600 flower species Immerse yourself in the colours and scents of the over 600 species of flowers that dress the meadows along the cycle path, the banks of the Sarca and Chiese rivers and the shores of the 'Blue Flag Lakes' of Idro and Roncone in spring.

Cycle and enjoy the colours of the blooming flowers

Between Pinzolo and Caderzone Terme Between Pinzolo and Caderzone Terme, the dominant colour is the yellow of dandelions (Taraxacum sect. ruderalia), common buttercups (Ranunculus acris) and wood buttercups (Ranunculus nemorosus). But the meadows are also tinged with the pink and red shades of red clover (Trifolium pratense), the white of snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis) and hedge bedstraw (Galium album) — which was once used to curdle milk — the green of the grass, and the purplish-blue of common cat grass flowers (Dactylis glomerata), meadow grass (Poa pratensis) and alfalfa (Medicago sativa).

Spiazzo In Spiazzo, the meadows take on the yellow hue of buttercups and the purplish-blue of alfalfa, dotted with eye-catching patches of green grass: red fescue (Festuca rubra) and meadow grass (Poa pratensis).

The wooded area between Fisto (Spiazzo) and Pelugo is the realm of beech trees (Fagus sylvatica), spruce trees (Picea abies), ash trees (Fraxinus excelsior), elder trees (Sambucus nigra) and mountain linden trees (Tilia cordata), famous for their yellow honey.

Pelugo In the area of Pelugo, lining the fields of maize, we find a plant that’s both rare and distinctive in western Trentino: velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti), an exotic plant discovered in Val Rendena for the first time a few years ago.
Highlights in the wooded areas include the pink and white of different fumewort species (Corydalis solida and Corydalis intermedia) and the green of ivy (Hedera helix) and goats beard (Aruncus dioicus).
In the same region, it is possible to find some edible herbs like nettles (Urtica dioica), goosefoot (Chenopodium album) and Good-King-Henry (Blitum bonus-enricus), which mainly grow in meadows close to stables.

DARE' Passing through Darè, Javrè and Sesena, the meadows are multi-coloured, ranging from the purple flowers of knapweed (Centaurea nigrescens) to the white of the common daisy (Leucanthemum ircutianum subsp. ircutianum) and the varied shades of officinal and edible plants like meadow sage (Salvia pratensis), wild carrot (Daucus carota), wild rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia), wall-rocket (Diplotaxis muralis), rampion bellflower (Campanula rapunculus), common hypericum (Hipericum perforatum), common dandelion (Taraxacum sect. ruderalia), nettles (Urtica dioica), Good-King-Henry (Blitum bonus-enricus) and goosefoot (Chenopodium album).

PONTE PIA' Around Ponte Pià you can find white willow (Salix alba), red willow, almond willow (Salix triandra) and goad willow (Salix caprea), with yellow or green flowers.

RONCONE Roncone offers a stroll through the white flowers of bladder campion (Silene vulgaris subsp. vulgaris), the vibrant flowers of red campion (Silene dioica), and the golden hues of common reeds (Phragmites australis), goldenrod and Canada goldenrod (Solidago del Canada).

LARDARO E CONDINO The road between Lardaro and Condino is flanked by multi-coloured meadows, with yellow hypericum (Hipericum perforatum), purple meadow sage (Salvia pratensis), and the flowers of white campion (Silene alba), bladder campion (Silene vulgaris subsp. vulgaris) (white) and daisies (Leucanthemum ircutianum subsp. ircutianum).

STORO North of Storo the land is awash with the yellow of dandelion (Taraxacum sect. ruderalia), buttercups (Ranunculus acris) and wood buttercups (Ranunculus nemorosum).

Between Storo and Lake Idro, the dry slopes are packed with warmth-loving and officinal plants like spring cinquefoil (Potentilla verna), common hypericum (Hipericum perforatum) with its vibrant yellow colour, red campion (Silene dioica) and some rare, multi-coloured orchids: the military orchid (Orchis militaris), the burnt-tip orchid (Neotinea ustulata) and the three-toothed orchid (Neotinea tridentata).

Recommended period: from mid-April to the end of June.
