The Pinzolo public library was first opened in 1972. The original core of the library was made up of some 600 books from the Provincial Center of Library Science, the books from the former library of the parish of San Lorenzo, Pinzolo, composed primarily of works of fiction, and a donation by the Pinzolo Section of the SAT of works devoted almost entirely to the mountains. An additional 400 books were then purchased by the Town Council.
In the 38 years of the library’s history, the library collections have been steadily increasing. As of December 2009, it included some 40,000 volumes, including 33,000 for adults and 7,000 for children and teens.
Each year the library buys roughly 2,000 new books in order to maintain an up-to-date collection of both reference books and works of fiction. At the same time, the library also eliminates outdated works in order to streamline and rejuvenate the collections. The books that are discarded are then offered for sale to the public.
Over 500 movies on VHS and DVD are also available.
Special area for kids, internet point, prints, photocopies and faxes.
