Casa Cüs

Casa Cüs title=

A perfect example of rural Alpine architecture with a collection of over 300 work tools, particularly rich in equipment for working and engraving copper, with wooden, iron and steel hammers.

This typical example of rural Alpine architecture houses a museum showcasing ancient crafts and local traditions and customs. In particular, the “La Bottega del Ramaio” (Coppersmith’s Workshop) exhibit consists of around 300 work tools owned by the coppersmith Egidio Gottardi, originally from Javrè, which were used in his workshop in Tione and donated to Casa Cüs by his children. The collection is particularly rich in equipment for working and engraving copper, from wooden hammers for shaping vessels to iron or steel ones for decorative work. These sit alongside anvils of all shapes and sizes, bellows, shears, compasses and many other tools which were often made by the smith himself, whether for routine use or for specific purposes.

HIGHLIGHT:
A showcase for ancient crafts and local traditions and customs.
