A real open-air museum that stretches between 450 and 750 m of Malga Cain for about 4 km, and tells of handicrafts, stories and heresies.
Between woods and meadows, peasant culture and the ancient crafts linked to it relive as a testimony to the daily life of a people, its work and the intact symbiosis with nature and the landscape that it has been able to establish and maintain over time. On a leisurely walk of about four kilometres, you can observe artefacts related to old crafts, such as the old iron forge or the old mill.
This fairytale and enchanted world continues with the Witch's Garden, where science, history and magic come together: according to legend, Brigida, one of the best-known witches of the Valle del Chiese, who really lived around 1470 and was burnt alive by the Inquisition, was also one of the most expert practitioners of herbal medicine. Immediately afterwards, the path reaches the trenches of the Great War, a reminder of the Italian Front. In addition, restoration work has been carried out on the calchèra for lime production, the site of a charcoal kiln for charcoal production, a bird rookery and the old Cain hut at the top of the trail.
STRENGTH:
