Cesare Maestri, the runner of the Dolomites 

A simple guy. No flights of fancy. A boy from the mountains, a guy who loves run the mountain, indeed. Born in 1993, from Borgo Lares, a small village at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites, an engineering degree, he works in the renewable energy field.

The new promise in the mountain running Cesare Maestri got the Italian Mountain Running vice-champion title in 2016 and Italian champion in the relay. He took part in the Italian team European Champions, together with Dematteis brothers and Xavier Chevrier, after getting the fifth place in the European Championships in Arco.  

Promising debut in 2017 with the Giulietta e Romeo Half Marathon in Verone and the great goal of the Italian Long Distance Mountain Running Champion got in the prestigious Nasego trophy. In the Premana World championships 2017 got the 13th place (58:14), in the last race of the Slovenian World Cup in Slovenia conquer the second position.

The season 2018 is a great season: first place in the FlettaTRAIL where Cesare wins over the Kenyan athletes, second place in the Italian Championships in Saluzzo. His time of the half marathon is 1h04'47" gained the title of Italian vice-champion of the discipline.

The 2019 season is a record season. Here his best enterprises:

  • Winner of Ciaspolada (snowshoeing world cup run) in Val di Non;
  • 5° place in the European Mountain Running Championships (individual) and a silver medal for the team run in Zermatt;
  • 1° place with time record at Fletta Trail in Malonno, a 21 km mountain running international race;
  • 1° place at the Italian individual Championships (uphill mountain running race);
  • 4° place at the international cross race in Vallagarina and best Italian;
  • 2019 Italian Mountain Running Champion (Arco);
  • Vice-champion in the Mountain Running World Championship in Patagonia on November 15, 2019.
  • Italian mountain running champion 2020

Next important event: the World Championships in Patagonia on November 15, 2019.

On January 19, 2020 he won the International Cross of Vallagarina: an Italian had not won this international cross since 1998.
Moreover, a victory at the 2020 Stellina Challenge crowned him the Italian mountain running champion.
