Lake Nero and the Cornisello Lakes
Alta Val Nambrone / Pinzolo
Lake Nero is one of the Trentino region’s most famous spots for its pure beauty. At the apex of the equally beautiful, untamed Nambrone valley, it is among the most photographed of lakes due, in particular, to the spectacular Brenta Dolomites sunsets that reflect off the water. Lovers of this sort of landscape will definitely want to give this lake a visit, but don’t underestimate the Cornisello Lakes for stunning photos of Presanella.

By car, along the road that heads up from Pinzolo to Madonna di Campiglio, at the crossroads at switchback no. 4, take the left in the direction of Laghi di Cornisello. After about 4 km (2.5 mi) of paved road (warning: narrow), having passed Ristorante Val Nambrone and the bridge over the Sarca river, you will begin climbing through a series of switchback for about 9 km (5.5 mi)—featuring a lovely panorama of Pinzolo—until the parking area of Rifugio Cornisello, where the road ends at an altitude of 2,120 meters (6,955 ft). Park your car, then follow the signs for Lago Nero (2,200m / 7,220 ft), which is about a 30-minute walk along a dirt road and then a trail after you’ve passed an abandoned cable lift that dates back to the 1960s. The Cornisello lakes can be seen from Rifugio Cornisello and are just a short walk away along a dirt road.
