A rich collection of weapons, uniforms and other artefacts from the glaciers of Adamello, put together in 1991 by a group of volunteers and dedicated searchers.
A reconstructed Italian army hut from the high mountains and the entrance of an Austro-Hungarian tunnel used as a shelter and warehouse for troops: these and much more wait to be discovered at the Museo della Grande Guerra in Valle del Chiese. It was set up in July 1991 by a group of volunteers and dedicated researchers to display the artefacts left behind by soldiers from all over the world who fought here. Research has been two-sided: firstly, examining countless documents at the Army Staff in Rome; and secondly, physically searching for relics on the mountains, from Lake Garda and the Prealpi Ledrensi to Adamello. The rooms hold weapons, field kitchens, camp beds, sleds, skis, sniper shields, uniforms, bottles and inkpots, and gas masks.
