The elements of Dolomiti Natural Wellness

The elements that make up Dolomiti Natural Wellness are:

Barefoot Trails

The Barefoot Trails are specific areas in which to practice barefoot hiking, a proprioceptive experience in total silence along trails immersed in nature in order to be more in touch with Mother Earth, to listen to your own body in a sort of return to our origins. You will walk on pine needles, tree bark, pine cones, soft moss, leaves, grass, and pebbles.

Benefits: Barefoot hiking improves whole-body balance, reduces stress, and reactivates microcirculation.

Natural Kneipp

Natural Kneipp is barefoot hiking along specific sections of the Sarca river.

Benefits: The cold water reduces inflammation and congestion while narrowing blood vessels. It reinforces the immune system and restores psychophysical balance, while promoting relaxation and reducing stress. It stimulates vital energies and combats rheumatic disorders. We recommend starting out slowly and staying in for about ten minutes.

Silence Rooms

A Silence Room is a place of complete tranquility in which to spend time in total silence and to just breathe, admire the wonders of nature, meditate, and shake off the stresses of daily life. It is a place of peace and serenity, an open space suited to practicing yoga - such as sun salutations - and inner silence in complete freedom at any time of day.

In a special, almost magical place dedicated entirely to yourself. Thich Nhat Hanh described it best in his book Silence: “We spend a lot of time looking for happiness when the world right around us is full of wonder. To be alive and walk on the Earth is a miracle, and yet most of us are running as if there were some better place to get to. There is beauty calling to us every day, every hour, but we are rarely in a position to listen. The basic condition for us to be able to hear the call of beauty and respond to it is silence. If we don't have silence in ourselves - if our mind, our body, are full of noise - then we can’t hear beauty’s call. […] Our heart is calling us but we don't hear. We don't have the time to listen to our heart.”

Tree Hugging

Profound contact with Mother Nature through tree hugging, breathing harmoniously, synchronizing one’s soul with the world around us, observing nature in complete silence, meditating, and sharing all of these values with the people around us.

Trees, in certain cultures, are known as erect beings. They may not walk like we humans do, but rather their movement is that of supporting the energy found between Heaven and Earth.

Benefits: Recent studies have shown that hugging a tree, or even just being near one, improves focus and reaction times, while reducing depression and headaches.

Natural Walking

Natural Walking is an easy walk along flat ground that enables us to keep a constant pace and regular heart rate, which promotes a healthy metabolism. It is particularly suited to people who are overweight, sedentary, undergoing cardiovascular rehabilitation, diabetic, or otherwise not used to walking a lot. Along the path there are points for exercising and for breathing techniques with the help of specific information boards.

Benefits: regain physical fitness and general wellbeing.

Other activities

In addition to these foundational Elements, within each itinerary it is also possible to try out other practices that are a part of and complement Natural Wellness.

Everyone can try the proposed exercises and there are no side effects, so long as you are careful not to force any movements that you find difficult. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for a wide range of motion.

We recommend slowing down your habitual rhythms and do the activities proposed without hurrying so that you can focus and listen to your breath. For beginners especially, we recommend going on your first outings with an experienced Wellness Trainer, who will be able to help you ease into this world with the right degree of curiosity and balance.

Breathing Techniques:

Breathing is the most vital of acts. We can live for weeks without eating and for days without water, but it’s impossible to live without breathing. Breathing is one of the primary factors in the general regulation of our bodily functions. By breathing, we directly produce oxygen, which is essential to producing energy and increasing vitality. Breathing determines the quality of our focus and awareness. Even the quality of our emotions and ability to openly express them are directly tied to our breathing.

Inner Silence
In a special, almost magical place dedicated entirely to yourself. Thich Nhat Hanh described it best in hisbook Silence: “We spend a lot of time looking for happiness when the world right around us is full ofwonder. To be alive and walk on the Earth is a miracle, and yet most of us are running as if there were somebetter place to get to. There is beauty calling to us every day, every hour, but we are rarely in a position to listen. The basic condition for us to be able to hear the call of beauty and respond to it is silence. If we don't have silence in ourselves—if our mind, our body, are full of noise—then we can’t hear beauty’s call. […] Our heart is calling us but we don't hear. We don't have the time to listen to our heart.”
Give yourself time to listen to your body and sensations, your heart and your mood, your mind and the space between your thoughts.
It is a practice not so easy, every day we are disoriented by the rumors ofeveryday life:release from that and listen to your inner voice is an act of love. Practicing silence for just 5 minutes is a great success.

Sun Salutation:

The Sun Salutation is a sequence of 12 positions (asanas) executed harmoniously one after the other in a single exercise. They are synchronized with a specific breathing pattern such that the positions and the breath complement each other. You breathe in when bending back, which results in a natural expansion of the chest, you breathe out when bending forward, as the chest and abdomen contract. You hold your breath during three of the 12 asanas.

The sun salutation is a spiritual practice of Hindu origin and is complete in that it includes asana, pranayama, mantra, and meditation techniques. Its versatility and applicability make it one of the most useful techniques in achieving a healthy and vigorous lifestyle, while also preparing us for spiritual awakening and the consequent expansion of awareness.
