Three days exploring the Dolomites with the Alpine Guides of Madonna di Campiglio

1 DAY : rendezvous with the Alpine Guide, equipment check and transfer by minibus from the Adamello Brenta Park in Val Genova to the Bedole plain, climb up the magnificent trail to Mandrone hut (2.449m) passing the Austrian cemetery and the Julius Payer glacier centre. Another stroll in the afternoon to see the fascinating Lago Scuro (Dark Lake), then dinner and overnight stay after a report/discussion on the events of the Great War in Adamello by Alpine guides.
DAY 2 : across the moraine and the Mandrone glacier up to Caduti dell'Adamello hut (3.040m) a walk of about 3 hours with Alpine guides, roped together and wearing crampons. From the Lobbia pass, an excursion to the Cresta Croce Cannon (3.315m) and the altar erected to commemorate the visit of Pope Wojtyla in 1985. Return to the retreat, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3 : departure for the Horn of Cavento across the glacier and a visit to the shelter cave. Descent on the other side of the mountain to the picturesque Val di Lares, arriving at Ponte Rosso in Val Genova. Return to Carisolo.
