DAY 1: rendezvous with Alpine Guides in Campo Carlo Magno, equipment check for the ferrata and programme briefing. The route leads to the uninhabited Valle dell 'Ȍsterreich through woods dotted with ancient larch trees, to the Vagliana and Vaglianella mountain retreats, then a climb up to the Graffer hut (2.261m). Excursion to the Orti della Regina gardens, a verdant area abundant with flowers and plants. A convivial evening with dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: after breakfast, we take the path that crosses the Pian di Graffer Plain to the Tuckett retreat (2.275m) where we take a brief stop for refreshments then continue along the SOSAT trail equipped with ladders and ropes, a spectacular route through the Brenta Alta mountains to the Brentei hut (2.182m), which was run for decades by the legendary Bruno Detassis, a former Alpine guide known as the King of Brenta. There will be plenty of anecdotes and stories about the life and times of this truly charismatic character before we have dinner and stay overnight.
DAY 3: as soon as we leave the retreat we go down into a lovely basin, following the Violi trail, famous for the variety of beautiful flowers along our descent to the Casinei hut (1.825m), built on a beautiful natural terrace above Vallesinella. After a refreshment stop we take a magnificent semi-circular path that descends to the valley floor and the Vallesinella waterfalls area, where foaming waters gush from the rock and then disappear underground. Arriving at the level parking area we take the shuttle bus back to Campiglio and Passo Campo Carlo Magno.
