The summer 2014 celebrates some important anniversaries of our mountains: on the one hand the first crossing of the Brenta Dolomites by the Anglo-Saxon explorer John Ball, academic, botanist, glaciology expert that on 22nd August provided documentary evidence about the crossing of the Brenta Dolomites. On the other hand, in the granite battle front of Adamello- Presanella, the English D.W. Freshfield was the first to climb the higher top of this mountain group, the Presanella (3558 m). Just some days after, the Bohemian lieutenant Julius Payer conquered the top of Adamello; a glaciology center has been dedicated to him at the “Mandron” area on Adamello, at 2.430 m.
To these anniversaries are dedicated the mountain festival “Mistero dei Monti - Happy Birthday Mountain” and the event “In the footsteps of the great pioneers”.
