The Associazione Miniere di Darzo APS is looking for new people to work with for the 2026 tourist season.
Take part in the intensive course to learn how to share the secrets of barite and apply to join the team of guides.
PROGRAMME:
FRIDAY 10 APRIL: 8.00–18.00
- Darzo Mines Association: Introduction to the course
- Paolo Ferretti and Riccardo Tomasoni (MUSE geologists): Geology and mineral deposits: why barite is found here and a general overview of Alpine, Trentino and local geology
- Lara Casagrande (MUSE archaeologist): “It all begins with the mines” – the role of mines in human development
- Cesare Castiglia (mining engineer): Mining operations: technical aspects, mining terminology and jargon, economic and environmental sustainability
- Serena Bugna (local history expert): History and territory of the Valle del Chiese and Val Sabbia from prehistory to the present day, with reference to the tangible and intangible heritage visible in the area
- Darzo Mining Association: The history of mining and industrial development in Darzo and the Valle del Chiese: from the general historical context to mining activity in the village
SATURDAY 11 APRIL: 8.30am–6.00pm
- Alessandro De Bertolini (landscape expert): Human landscapes of the Alps – how to read and interpret them
- Roberta Medini (heritage interpretation trainer):
- Heritage Interpretation – environmental and cultural interpretation for a ‘wow’ cultural experience!
- Practical workshop: trying out Heritage Interpretation techniques
SUNDAY 12 APRIL: 8.00–18.00
- Darzo Mines Association:
- Darzo Mines Project: vision and objectives of a community-based cultural tourism project
- Visit to the Marigole mining site with former miners and sorters
- Basics of guiding and guided tour procedures
TARIFF:
Admission fee. Single fee: €50.00
ACCESSIBILITY:
The event meets the essential requirements to enable anyone to access and participate independently.
