For the twelfth consecutive year, groups of young people will gather in protected areas and natural sites across the Alps and the Carpathians to explore nature and share a unique physical, cultural, artistic and human experience in the mountains.
Organised by the Adamello Brenta Nature Park in collaboration with AlParc, Youth at the Top is open to young adults aged 18 to 30.
The theme of the 12th edition is "A Mountain of Ecosystems".
PROGRAMME
Thursday, July 16th
9:30 a.m.: Meeting at the Val San Valentino car park. Introduction to the forest ecosystem and the different species found at varying altitudes.
11:00 a.m.: Valletta Alta – Observation of the alder woodland ecosystem and discussion on mountain ecotones.
1:30 p.m.: Bocca di Conca – Packed lunch and discussion on alpine grassland ecosystems.
3:00 p.m.: Carè Alto Mountain Hut – Arrival after crossing periglacial environments.
4:30 p.m.: Eastern Carè Alto Glacier – Optional hike to the Austro-Hungarian cannon and the glacier front to explore post-glacial ecosystems.
Friday, 17 July
8:00 a.m.: Breakfast and departure towards Passo Altar.
10:00 a.m.: Passo Altar – Observation of the Carè Alto Glacier.
12:30 p.m.: Malga Seniciaga Alta – Arrival at the mountain hut, lunch and exploration of the fragile peatland ecosystem and its relationship with human activity.
4:00 p.m.: End of the hike in Val Genova at Scala di Bò, followed by transfer in the Park shuttle to return to the starting point.
