CLIMATE AS A SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUE with Dino Zardi, Professor of Atmospheric Physics at the University of Trento.
PROGRAMME:
5.30 p.m.: at the Sala della Cultura.
The climate emergency is a priority that can no longer be postponed. Climate change poses a series of pressing questions that are now unavoidable for the future of mankind. People are aware of climate change because they experience it: it is no longer a question of whether to believe it or not, it is a fact.
If we are in this condition, it is because we resort to a development model based on the exploitation of fossil fuels. There must be a change of course. But no action can hope to be effective if it is not accompanied by in-depth scientific knowledge, intelligibly conveyed in a language close to the citizens to raise awareness and sustainability.
Unfortunately, the climate crisis is not only an environmental emergency but also a humanitarian crisis that undermines the fundamental rights of people and communities.
Dino Zardi is scientific coordinator of the Rovereto Festivalmeteorologia and former president of the Italian Association of Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology (AISAM).
