From Madonna di Campiglio to the mountain farms of Clemp, war forts

Da Madonna di Campiglio ai Masi di Clemp, forti della guerra title=

Easy walk from Madonna di Campiglio to Clemp, a panoramic place where some characteristic mountain farms are located and where a First World War fort can be observed.

The panoramic hike follows the orographic profile of the mountains, leading from Madonna di Campiglio to the forts of Clemp, above the village of Sant'Antonio di Mavignola. The place offers a beautiful view of the Brenta Dolomites and hosts interesting remains of the Great War: a short trench and the ruins of a masonry barracks.

Thanks to its elevated position, this structure dominated the Campiglio Valley up to Carisolo and could thus control a fairly vast and at the same time strategic territory. The fortification, about forty meters long in total, was divided into several rooms including a rifle gallery crossed by two superimposed rows of loopholes, still clearly visible today, overlooking the switchbacks of the road to Madonna di Campiglio. Only the perimeter walls and some sections of the vault remain of the casemate which, however, give an idea of what the original structure was like.

The walk is ideal for families and enthusiasts of Great War remains.
