Highly evocative route among the magnificent alpine lakes of San Giuliano and Garzonè characterized by a spectacular view of Cima Presanella.
From Caderzone Terme, drive the road to the San Giuliano lakes.
Park in the locality Pöc dali Fafc and walk the path leading to Malga Campo. Then continue along a short stretch of trail until you meet the SAT 230 path coming from Malga Diaga. From here follow the SAT 230 path leading to Malga San Giuliano, the lakes, and the shelter of the same name. Then resume the ascent along the SAT 221 path up to the Bocchetta dell’Acqua Fredda, then descend to Lake Vacarsa and Malga Campostril. Here, on the left, take the “senter plan” that leads back to the parking.
A stop is recommended at the welcoming San Giuliano shelter, recently renovated, and at the nearby small church-sanctuary by the lake. The small church, dedicated to St. Julian of Cilicia, was once apparently guarded by a hermit and has been celebrated in antiquity for its source of “water good for fevers”.
Don't forget your camera: the route offers a splendid view of Cima Presanella, the Carè Alto-Adamello glaciers, and the Brenta Dolomites.
