A journey into the wild nature of Val Genova awaits you in Val Gabbiolo. Steep and rarely visited, it offers splendid views of Lobbie, Adamello and Carè Alto and leads to an incredibly beautiful rocky amphitheatre.
Val Gabbiolo is a splendid side valley of Val Genova, accessible from Rifugio Stella Alpina. Like many side valleys in this area, it combines the harsh characteristics of the environment with the great satisfaction of almost pioneering exploration, offering verticality, minimal signposting, unspoilt and wild beauty, and isolation.
The challenging ascent is rewarded with an incredible views of Lobbie, Carè Alto and the Adamello-Presanella range. The upper part of the valley is dominated by elegant peaks, including Punta Graffer, Torre Bogani, Punta Gian, Campanile Zapparoli, Ago Nardis and Campanile dei Boci. These peaks form a rocky amphitheatre that appears to have been sculpted by an artist.
Once you reach the final plateau, dominated by a large rock known as "Masso del bivacco" (Bivouac Rock), you can simply enjoy the charm of this place, which was once very popular with climbers who loved classical mountaineering.
Continue your journey on La Via delle Valli, where you can choose to explore any of the 50 proposed valleys. Find out more at: www.campigliodolomiti.it/laviadellevalli.
You will find signs and stamps in the valleys from July 2025.
THE NEIGHBOURING VALLEYS:
From Val Gabbiolo you can reach Val di Cercen by crossing the Scarazon Pass.
However, this crossing is strongly discouraged without the accompaniment of a mountain guide, ideal environmental conditions, and excellent mountaineering skills. There is no real path, only a faint track on unstable and dangerous terrain.
Val Gabbiolo can be accessed from Val Genova.
