The chestnut grove of Carisolo, a history that goes back hundreds of years.
The chestnut grove of Carisolo, restored in 2009, was described with admiration as early as 1673 by the historian of the Council of Trent Michelangelo Mariani. This chestnut forest had a precise place in the economy of the ancient inhabitants of the place: the trees, planted by the same locals on municipal soil according to a privilege of Roman origin that allowed him to have full ownership of the tree and to be able to collect the fruits, gave timber, tannin and, of course, chestnuts. In the chestnut grove, we still see the large centuries-old chestnut trees with fantastic and irregular shapes, terraced terraces and circular walls for the containment of the earth.
