The magic of Christmas returns to the streets of Quartinago di Cimego. From Saturday 29 November, the streets of this ancient village in the Valle del Chiese will be filled with music, lights, colours and the traditional flavours of local cuisine.
PROGRAMME:
SATURDAY 5 DECEMBER
10.00am: opening of the Cimego Christmas market
From 10.00am to 6.00pm:
- Images from the past – The history of the Valle del Chiese through a selection of period photographs and films, rediscovering the people, places, traditions and moments in the life of the Valle del Chiese community, organised by the Quatar Sorele Cultural Group
- Recreation of a 16th-century Landsknecht camp with historical demonstrations organised by the Lebrac Association, with the chance to sample medieval bread
- Exhibition of nativity scenes in the little church of St Anthony, organised by the RSA P.O. Nicolini in Pieve di Bono
- Weaving traditions – a basket-weaving demonstration by Antonino Bertini
11.00am: guided tour of the Marascalchi House Museum and the little church of St Anthony, organised by the La Fusina Association and the Incontra cooperative. Meet at the museum entrance 15 minutes before the tour begins (ticket €3, free for under-14s).
From 1.00pm to 6.00pm: El cantun dei ferer | Iron Takes Shape – live demonstrations by master blacksmiths, who will shape iron using the gestures, techniques and secrets of this ancient craft tradition.
From 2.30pm: Medieval Carousel – A travelling concert by the Baghèt Baniatica Ensemble, featuring bagpipes, percussion and other traditional instruments. A journey through the evocative sounds of the Middle Ages and folk music, featuring melodies, rhythms and the atmosphere of times gone by.
From 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm: story time for children hosted by Barbara Candioli.
6.00 pm: closing of the Cimego Christmas market.
SUNDAY 6 DECEMBER
10.00am: Opening of the Cimego Christmas market.
From 10.00am to 6.00pm:
- A 16th-century Landsknecht camp will be set up, featuring historical re-enactments organised by the Lebrac Association, with the chance to sample medieval bread
- The art of bobbin lace – Demonstrations and workshops on bobbin lace-making organised by the Al filò dal lundì Association, an opportunity to discover the ancient art of bobbin lace
- Images from the past – The history of the Valle del Chiese through a selection of period photographs and films, offering a chance to rediscover the people, places, traditions and moments in the life of the Valle del Chiese community, organised by the Quatar Sorele Cultural Group

11.00 am: music by I fratelli nani featuring accordion and guitar, with a mix of traditional melodies and folk tunes

- Wood and Craftsmanship – Demonstrations of woodworking and woodcarving with the master craftsmen of La Büsier: the Praso School of Woodworking
- Images from the past – The history of the Valle del Chiese through a selection of vintage photographs and films, rediscovering the people, places, traditions and moments in the life of the Valle del Chiese community, organised by the Quatar Sorele Cultural Group
- Exhibition of nativity scenes in the little church of St Anthony, organised by the RSA P.O. Nicolini in Pieve di Bono

5.00pm: The Witches’ Dance. A re-enactment that tells the story of women persecuted as witches, to remember the past and reflect on violence against women in our present day.
6.00pm: Closing of the Cimego Christmas market.
