The 1800s: Romanticism, Country, Progress

Via P. Gnesotti, 12, Tione di Trento

Mountains have not always been places of vacation, well-being, and nature discovery. It was the 19th century that invented much of the Alpine imagery that still characterizes Trentino today. This imagery is built upon sublime landscapes, national identities, trust in progress, travelers, mountaineers, and new forms of tourism destined to profoundly transform the territory. The event will offer an original interpretation of the century that shaped the contemporary world, through a dialogue between music, anthropology, and art history.

PROGRAM:

8.30pm: Carlo Centemeri, a Milanese music communicator and well-known Rai television personality, will be in conversation with Marta Villa, a cultural anthropologist from the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Trento whose work focuses on imagery, identity, and mountains, and Ezio Chini, an art historian from FAI Trentino.
