The Museo Etnografico Trentino San Michele, in collaboration with the Museo Casa Cüs in Darè, is organising a day dedicated to the art of bobbin lace, combining memory, research and photography.
PROGRAMME:
9:30 a.m.: Opening of the event and institutional greetings.
Presentation of the proceedings of the conference Giri e incroci di fili. Il merletto a tombolo tra tradizione e innovazione (Threads, Twists and Crossings. Bobbin Lace between Tradition and Innovation), curated by Marta Bazzanella, Irene Fratto and Flavia Valentini.
Lectio magistralis: A Scientific and Historical Journey through the Tradition of Bobbin Lace, with Alessandra Caputo from Merletto Italiano.
Introduction to the workshop The Three-Pair Flanders Stitch of Gorizia: Origins and Development of the Technique, with Mariagrazia Giacomini, Scuola Merletti di Gorizia-Erpac.
Opening of the photographic exhibition La danza dei fuselli (The Dance of the Bobbins) by Alicia Vrech.
In the afternoon: Bobbin lace workshop for both beginners and experienced lace makers, during which participants will create a pendant using the three-pair Flanders stitch, an elegant technique from the lace-making tradition of Gorizia. The workshop will be led by Mariagrazia Giacomini from the Scuola Merletti di Gorizia-Erpac.
ADMISSION:
Free admission. The workshop costs €15 per person.
