Giorgio Vacchiano is a researcher in Forest Management and Planning at the University of Milan. His research activity focuses on simulation models to support sustainable forest management, as well as strategies for mitigating and adapting to climate change and natural disturbances in European temperate forests.
For years he has been engaged in teaching and scientific dissemination and has published numerous articles in international journals. In 2018, the journal Nature included him among the eleven best emerging young scientists in the world, recognizing him as one of the researchers who "are making their mark in science."
He is a member of the Italian Society of Silviculture and Forest Ecology (SISEF), which he coordinates the communication working group, and of the Ecological Society of America (ESA). He is the author of the book The resilience of the forest (Mondadori, 2019) and president of Climate Media Center Italy.
