Valeria Barbi, an environmental journalist and expert on biodiversity, is a trained naturalist and political scientist. She is the author of From Alaska to Patagonia: A Journey Through the Most Extraordinary Ecosystems of the World (Laterza, 2025) and What is Biodiversity, Today (Edizioni Ambiente, 2022).
Together with photographer and videomaker Davide Agati, she conceived WANE – We Are Nature Expedition, a multimedia report documenting the impacts of human activities on biodiversity and gathering stories of possible coexistence between humans and other species.
For GEO (Rai 3), she curates a column dedicated to the importance of biodiversity and biomimicry. She is responsible for communication at Salviamo l’Orso and is a member of the Communication and Education Commission of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
