Description
You might call this “a lodge with a view” given its magnificent view out over the Brenta Dolomites. As the starting point of the 5 Laghi circuit and of the trail to the beautiful Lake Ritort, it is a popular point of reference in both summer and winter.
Access
At the top of the 5 Laghi gondola lift. Alternatively, in the summer it makes for a leisurely hike along a dirt road (closed to traffic) that follows the ski run up from Patascoss to the lodge through lovely forests. About 1.25 hours. Lodge open in summer and winter. Restaurant and café only. No lodging.

5 Laghi (5 Lakes) is one of the sites where some of the great landscape photos of the Brenta Dolomites have been taken. Whatever the weather, it always offers great photo opportunities, whether it’s at sunset, after a storm, in the morning fog as it rises up from the valley and uncovers the mountain peaks. The view towards Malga Ritorto below, in the heart of the forest, offers other great ideas for stunning photos.
Time
This location faces the sun in the morning and then has the sun to one side throughout the day, so it is best to await better light towards the late afternoon when the sun has reached at least the 4-o’clock position as you look directly out at the Brenta Dolomites, so as to avoid taking shots against the light or in hard light with the sun directly overhead. As the sun slowly sets, the rock takes shape as the shadows provide contrast between the vertical cliff faces and the valleys below, so take full advantage of this brief window in time.
