A two-side hike, from the secluded ravines of the Marigole mining site, to the wide panoramas and views of Malga Donea and the Faserno huts.
This half-day loop route begins in Pra Bort and leads to the recently restored Marigole mining site. In the summer, guided tours are available to illustrate the work of the Darzo miners, explaining how barite was selected at the workshop and how it was extracted from the tunnels dug into the mountain. After the cultural tour, the trail climbs moderately steeply to Malga Val Donea, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Idro. This is followed by pastures and a long descent along the mountain road to the Faserno huts, overlooking the Storo plain, before returning to the forest and the starting point.
Remember to visit the Darzo Mines in Marigole is recommended, with access to the mining galleries and processing workshops. This area is famous for the yellow Storo flour, a locally sourced product. Buy some to take home or try it in some typical dishes.
