Recommended for experienced high-mountain trekkers, this demanding route involves significant elevation gain as well as exposed steel rope sections.
The itinerary stretches across the territories of the Sella Giudicarie and Valdaone municipalities, overshadowed by the Adamello massif, in the southern part of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park. Of undeniable historical and natural interest, it follows a former military route which, during the First World War, ran along the ridge marking the western boundary of the Val d’Arnò valley, between the Val di Trivena valley and the Passo del Frate mountain pass. You’ll come across plenty of Great War remnants along the route, all once used by the Austro-Hungarian army: the stone fort at Porte di Danerba, the rock-cut shelters at Passo del Frate and below Cima del Cop di Breguzzo, the cableway landing at Passo del Frate, and the remains of a cannon at Porte di Danerba. It’s a hike that rewards you with unforgettable views over the Daone, Fumo and Breguzzo valleys.
This route is not recommended for hiking with dogs, due to the equipped section with rope brackets and safety ropes after the Cima Valbona peak. The trail is classified for "experienced hikers with equipment", as it combines substantial elevation gain with exposed steel-rope sections.
