Val di Borzago - La Via delle Valli

Val Di Borzago title=

Tour to Carè Alto refuge. Difficult route but of great mountaineering charm. It is a starting point for several crossing, routes to wild tops and valley, and climbs.

By car from Spiazzo, take the road to Val di Borzago and park in Pian della Sega.

From here, take the challenging trail SAT 213, which takes you to Malga Coel di Pelugo and then, after crossing the Rio Bedù, up to Rifugio Carè Alto – Dante Ongari. Throughout the area, there are numerous signs of the First World War, including Bocca del Cannone (Mouth of the Cannon) and the wood church adjacent to the lodge.

The hard climb with a gradient of more than 1.200 mt is completely repayed by the wild beauty of a varied and majestic landscape and by the high scenic view. The area surrounding the refuge was occupied, during the First World War, by a real "military village" and nowadays there are many war remains to see, as for example the war cannon at about 2.850 mt a.s.l.

Continue your journey of discovery on La Via delle Valli, choose other valleys to explore among the 50 proposals, discover them all here: www.campigliodolomiti.it/laviadellevalli.it (soon online).
