Val Nova is an evocative adventure in nature, on ancient paths and woods leading from Malga Nova to the enchanting Lake Casinei and the scenic Bocchetta di Remà.
A feasible hike, not difficult but with some slightly challenging sections. We set off immediately uphill along path SAT 250, which leads from Malga Nova to Passo Bocca Frontale: from this mountain pass you can a admire the beautiful panorama, dominated by the green peaks of the southern offshoot of the Adamello-Presanella massif on the one side, and the Garda Alps on the other. A clearly visible path – although quite challenging as it crosses a fairly steep slope - leads to Malga Casinei di Nova. The old stone building there has been converted into a basic bivouac with a large fireplace and sleeping area. The track, now gentler, continues on the old pastureland and swiftly proceeds through a gorge, where the Canale di Nuova stream flows. It comes out at Lake Casinei, an ideal picnic spot surrounded by a romantic landscape. One last short push, and you will reach the Bocchetta di Remà mountain pass (2,251 m).
Continue your journey on La Via delle Valli, where you can choose to explore any of the 50 proposed valleys. Find out more at: www.campigliodolomiti.it/laviadellevalli.
You will find signs and stamps in the valleys from July 2025.
At the Bocchetta di Remà mountain pass, you will cross the Val Avèrta itinerary, which descends from the Bruffione Peak (signpost 251).
