This valley is characterised by steep rock faces and unspoilt nature. It is crossed by a gently sloping, paved road. It is suitable for families.
We start at the car park in front of the Ampola Waterfall and Forte Ampola Park. Here, a small museum displays relics from the First World War and tells the story of the 19th-century Austro-Hungarian fort. Immediately after the park, on the right, is the road that leads into the gorge of Valle di Lorina. This valley has Dantesque features, with a narrow first section followed by a wider second section.
The initial segment is dominated by steep limestone cliffs, where you can admire and touch the fossilised remains of megalodons. Thanks to ancient marine molluscs that lived millions of years ago, we can now explore the Cadria and Brenta Dolomite mountain massifs. The second part of the valley opens up into a steep amphitheatre with forests and meadow clearings. The road's gentle slope and smooth surface make this an ideal excursion for families, even with strollers.
Continue your journey on La Via delle Valli, where you can choose to explore any of the 50 proposed valleys. Find out more at: www.campigliodolomiti.it/laviadellevalli.
You will find signs and stamps in the valleys from July 2025.
More experienced and fitter walkers may choose to reach this valley by passing through Valle d'Ampola first. In periods of low rainfall, they can cross the Palvico stream easily and take the state road Via d'Ampola (SS 240). After twenty minutes, they will reach the entrance to Valle di Lorina. Take great care along this busy stretch of road.
