It's an emotional hike through a secluded valley with lonely stretches, linking the valley floor and the ridges of the surrounding mountains via an ever-changing landscape.
The first section runs alongside an asphalt mountain road and leads to Malga Gavardina. Here, the landscape takes on the typical characteristics of alpine pastureland. There is a view of the peak of Carè Alto, framed by the sides of the valley and the fir woods that encircle the wide pastures. In summer, these pastures are populated by herds of cattle, which replace the deer and roe deer for a couple of months of the year. Meanwhile, the higher, steeper meadow slopes remain the domain of the chamois. Here, we follow path SAT 414 until we reach Malga Casinot, which has a small bivouac equipped with a stove, table, benches, and a few beds. Finally, after a section with little development and a significant change in altitude, we reach Bocca dell'Ussol. This evocative place features a small church carved into a First World War military post. It invites religious silence and recalls the tragic nature of war, while the gaze rests on the lush greenery of Val di Concei and the surrounding peaks.
