According to tradition, the Capital of the Four Faces was built in 1348 as an ex voto for the plague and later expanded in 1630.
In 1882 it was preciously frescoed by the painter Valentino Pupin di Schio with a series of dedicatory inscriptions of the community and depictions of San Vigilio and San Lorenzo (southern niche), Madonna del Rosario with Santa Caterina and San Domenico (northern niche), San Sebastiano and San Rocco (eastern niche), San Valentino (western niche). This capital tells us about the darkest periods in the history of the people of the Rendena, that is, those of the great plague epidemics of 1347-1352 (the "Black Death"), 1576-1577 (the "Plague of San Carlo"), 1629-1633(the "Manzonian Plague") and that of cholera of 1836-1837.
