Not only milk, but also exceptional meat
Discover the unique qualities of Rendena breed beef, an excellence of our region and a Slow Food Presidium, symbol of the sustainability and quality of our mountains. Native to the Trentino valleys, Rendena cows are raised using traditional methods that respect both animal welfare and the environment, fed with grass and hay from Alpine pastures that give their meat an authentic flavour full of nuances.
Local small-scale farmers are the guardians of a tradition that enhances the territory while preserving this ancient and precious cattle breed. With its delicate flavour and tender texture, Rendena beef brings out the best of our land and revives the deep bond between cuisine and Alpine roots.
The Rendena is defined as a “dual-purpose” breed, for both meat and milk, with a stronger inclination toward milk production.
Particularly suited to high-altitude grazing thanks to its physical characteristics—small size and great endurance—this breed spends long periods on mountain pastures, feeding on natural Alpine grasses and wild plants.
The Rendena provides highly sought-after colostrum-free calves, as well as young steers of 400–450 kg at 12–13 months of age. These steers offer yields around 58–60% and meat of exceptionally high quality.
