The municipality of Sella Giudicarie was established on 1 January 2016 when the municipalities of Bondo, Breguzzo, Lardaro and Roncone were merged.
Before the first world war, the village of Lardaro was home to an Austrian garrison at the Austrian forts of Larino, Reveglèr and Danzolino. The “Sentiero della Pace”, or Peace Trail, passes through here: from Passo del Tonale, it follows the border of the province as far as Marmolada, through the sites where the Great War was fought
