Pleasant excursion through the woods between Larzana and Cerana retracing the history of human settlements in this territory, closely linked to the waters that flow through it.
A journey back in time, starting from Larzana, a village with large houses close to each other, where several family units lived. The route first crosses a mill, located next to the Rio Manez, of which you can still notice the ancient wooden wheel and stone millstones today. Crossing the bridge over the stream, the path then leads to Cerana, a small settlement scattered around the small central church and fountain, partially decimated by the plague in the Middle Ages and then completely abandoned following emigration. Here, peace and tranquility prevail while the view is rewarded by a splendid outlook over the valley. Descending, new traces indicate how active life once was, including the presence of a black marble quarry, also exported outside of Trentino. Climbing back to Larzana, you find the basins once dedicated to fish farming, now disused, and a private sawmill, completely restored in the Augustan style (German type) with a large water wheel to allow its operation even with limited water quantities.
This route allows you to discover a little-known area of the Giudicarie. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of these places and try to imagine the rhythms of the past, the hard work of mountain labor, and the satisfaction given by the surrounding environment that has always embraced and supported the activities of its inhabitants by providing water, wood, and other precious raw materials.
