An easy route of about 2 hours, linking Tione di Trento with the woods of Madonna del Lares, where there is a small church in a quiet clearing.
The route is mainly uphill on the outward journey and downhill on the way back, and it develops along an asphalted section of the cycle path, and then on an asphalted forest road and a small trail stretch.
The route starts in Tione di Trento and connects to the cycle path coming from Val Rendena, leading to Bolbeno. This stretch through the forest is accompanied by the sound of the Arnò stream, flowing into the Sarca River.
When reaching Bolbeno - a hamlet of the municipality of Borgo Lares - you will find one the ski centres at a lower altitude in Italy. After passing the ski track, the route continues along the asphalted forest road that climbs towards Madonna del Lares. On this uphill section, you can enjoy the many large deciduous and coniferous trees, and a splendid panorama of Tione di Trento and the mountains of Val Rendena. Shortly after the viewpoint, on the left, there is a masonry fountain with fresh water from the springs of Monte Piza.
Continuing on, the trail on the left enters the forest, with uphill steps that lead to the clearing with the small Church of Madonna del Lares.
The route can be walked from spring to autumn.
The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Lares is a meeting point for pilgrims and is much appreciated by the Giudicarie population. Legend has it that the painting of the Madonna was moved several times by the faithful to more accessible places, but every morning it was found hanging from the same larch tree, prompting the construction of a chapel there.
Inside the sanctuary, there is an ornate nave with numerous votive offerings, and in the altar niche, a statue of the Madonna holds a rose in her right hand and the Child in her left arm.
Also worth mentioning is a small fountain whose water is believed to be beneficial for the eyes.
