From the bottom of Val di Daone, you climb along a beautiful path next to rocky bands that separate the valley floor from the small plateaus above, occupied by typical mountain huts and several alpine farms. The ascent is mainly through the forest, and a nice viewpoint allows you to gaze across the central part of the valley. As you ascend, the landscape changes and broad expanses of woodland give way to steep grassy slopes interspersed with rocks up to Passo del Frate.

From Val Bona it is possible to connect to:
- Val d’Arnò. From Passo del Frate continue on the SAT 262 trail.
- Val di Bondone. At Passo del Frate turn towards Monte Corona. After passing the summit, continue along the ridge until you reach the route of Valle di Bondone which leads to Dosso dei Morti.
- Valle di Danerba. Descending from Passo del Frate along the SAT 262 trail until you reach the junction with the SAT 249 trail that leads to the Porte di Danerba.
Val del Vescovo. Descending from Passo del Frate along the SAT 262 trail until you reach the junction with the SAT 249 trail that leads to the Porte di Danerba.
Val di Trivena. From the Porte di Danerba, continue towards the summit Cop di Breguzzo (trail marker SAT 223) then descend towards the rifugio Trivena (trail marker SAT 261A).
