Demanding hike that from Lake Idro leads to Malga Alpo following the paths of the charcoal burners, immersed in a spectacular panorama and unique places, between history, culture, and nature.
On the shores of Lake Idro, the acrid odor of charcoal produced by the charcoal burners of Bondone arrived, and sometimes still does today. From its shores, following the emanations and the metallic sound of wood turned into black and sooty matter, the hike begins toward places of the past passing through the enchanting Castel San Giovanni, home of the Lodron counts, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake and the Chiese Valley, and Bondone, among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. A visit to its characteristic alleys and the charcoal burner monument before resuming the ascent crossing woods and especially meadows, always accompanied by a magnificent view of Lake Idro and the surrounding mountains.
The walk takes place along paths, interspersed with stretches of asphalt road until arriving at Malga Alpo: here is the charcoal burner's hut!
Alpo is a very popular destination for enthusiasts of Hike and Fly, who once arrived on foot, return down to the lake flying with a paraglider.
