Val di Cercen, a side valley of Val Genova, is particularly challenging and wild, with passages for experienced hikers. The ascent is extremely steep and the use of GPX-Tracks is recommended.
Val di Cercen is a beautiful, wild valley. At times you may lose the path due to high grass and in some places you have to cross the river without bridges, which is sometimes impossible when there is too much water. As in almost all the side valleys of Val Genova, the ascent is steep, and the use of trekking poles is recommended.
It is strongly recommended to follow GPX-Tracks to avoid getting lost in the less visible sections. In order to reach the summit, you have to climb a technical passage, well protected by a rope. There are no refreshment points and reception is almost non-existent. The valley is not to be underestimated and requires good physical and mountaineering preparation.
Nevertheless, Val di Cercen is a valley that offers incredible views, especially when you arrive above the snowfield, and great physical satisfaction. Recommended for those who like to push their limits and are not afraid of fatigue or isolation. Have fun exploring!
Continue your journey on La Via delle Valli, where you can choose to explore any of the 50 proposed valleys. Find out more at: www.campigliodolomiti.it/laviadellevalli.
You will find signs and stamps in the valleys from July 2025.
THE NEIGHBOURING VALLEYS:
From Val Cercen you can reach Val Gabbiolo by crossing the Scarazon Pass. Warning: this crossing is not advisable without the assistance of an alpine guide, ideal environmental conditions and excellent mountaineering preparation. There is no real path, only a barely visible track over unstable and dangerous terrain.
Val di Cercen can be reached from Val Genova.
