Panoramic trekking of medium difficulty and great satisfaction in one of the wildest valleys of the Brenta Dolomites.
The 1000 meters ascent leading to Bocca dei Tre Sassi, the highest point of Val Gelada, is a journey through very different environments and landscapes. First the vast pastures of Malga Monfidrà, then the forests of firs and larches with their intense green in summer and warm colors in autumn. Then the valley widens and the vegetation thins out, allowing a clear view of the northern Brenta peaks and towards the horizon, in the direction of Cima Presanella and the Adamello glacier. Finally, the typical dolomitic scree landscape, the result of the extraordinary shaping power of nature and millenary geological processes. The path crosses the pasture, goes through the forest, and climbs winding up Val Gelada, in an environment that becomes increasingly wild. After passing some rock ledges, green clearings scattered with alpine flowers open up as a surprise. Here you can often spot the real custodians of the valley, the chamois, perched like sentries on the rocks or passing in groups on the scree slopes.
Continuing the ascent, nature offers another of its unique and suggestive creations: a large hole in the rock, a natural window that creates magical plays of light and shadows. The final part of the route is characterized by the climb on scree terrain, until reaching Bocchetta dei Tre Sassi, at 2613m, which connects Val Gelada with Val delle Gere.
