Enjoy a panoramic ascent to the Valbona Lakes, where you can take in spectacular views of Val Rendena, the Brenta Group, Carè Alto and the Ledro Alps. The area is filled with lush coniferous forests and rhododendrons...
The route begins in the hamlet of Zeller, where path SAT 225 leads to Malga Cengledino. From there, it climbs over the pastures above and continues to the Valbona Lakes. The panorama of Val Rendena and the Brenta Dolomites becomes wider and more impressive as you gain altitude. Through gentle ups and downs, we reach Piana di San Martino, a verdant hollow covered with larch and rhododendrons, at the foot of Monte Cengledino (or Camp Antìc). Further on, you will come across a small, characteristic wooden hut used as a bivouac. It is known as either "Bait dei Caciador" (hunter's lodge) or "Bait Fontana delle Laste". The route then continues halfway up the hillside to the beautiful lakes in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park and Geopark area. Here, a rocky amphitheatre provides a stunning backdrop to the deep blue waters.
Continue your journey on La Via delle Valli, where you can choose to explore any of the 50 proposed valleys. Find out more at: www.campigliodolomiti.it/laviadellevalli.
You will find signs and stamps in the valleys from July 2025.
The ‘leitmotiv’ of this itinerary is the extraordinary panorama that can be enjoyed along the entire route. In fact, the route that leads to the Laghi di Valbona lakes turns out to be an authentic open window on Val Rendena, Gruppo di Brenta, Carè Alto and the Ledro Alps. The panoramic setting is enhanced by the environmental context in which the walk takes place, among pines, firs and rhododendrons. The arrival at the lakes is a very satisfying goal; the view is magnificent.
Proceeding beyond the lakes, along path SAT 225, you can reach three other valleys included in La Via delle Valli itinerary:
- Valletta Alta
- Valle di San Valentino (turn at the crossroads onto path SAT 261)
- Val di Trivena (turn at the crossroads onto path SAT 260 "Senter de Laghisòl")
- Val di Breguzzo (walk along path SAT 260 for a stretch, once you reach Malga Laghisol move onto path SAT 264 "Senter de Cóal" and at Malga Cóel move onto path SAT 264a "Senter de Cóal basso")
