Antica Vetreria - Museo del vetro

Antica Vetreria - Museo del vetro

The Museo del Vetro traces the history of the 19th-century glassmaking activity of the Giudicarie through the precious artifacts, the original documents and the ancient photographic images. The glorious productive past of the valley is thus remembered.
The 'Fabbrica dei Cristalli Pernici e Bolognini' was founded in Carisolo in 1805 and was operational until 1888.
Located at the mouth of the Val di Genova, this peculiar entrepreneurial initiative originated from the presence of quartziferous veins in the mountain slopes of the Val Rendena. It took advantage of the large amount of timber from the surrounding woods that provided the fuel for the furnace and used the motive power of the Sarca River.
The skilled workers came from Bohemia, Alsace and Lorraine and shaped the production of precious refined and artistic objects according to the ancient techniques of crystal processing in central Europe.

STRENGTH: This revives the era of the ingenious production of blown glass in these valleys, where the art of the master glassmakers and the tenacity of courageous entrepreneurs gave life to an industry that gained market and important appreciations.
