The most important Marian sanctuary of the Giudicarie is an oasis of peace where faithful and visitors can find serenity and silence.
Its history is rooted in an evocative legend: it is said that an effigy of the Virgin was found hanging on a larch and that, despite the repeated attempts of the faithful to move it, the following morning it was regularly found on the same tree.
It was at this point that the construction of the chapel was decided, creating the clearing that still welcomes visitors today. The sacred image of the "Madonna with Child and Rose in her hand" has been venerated for centuries as the "Madonna del Lares": a name that recalls both the legendary find and the magnificent wreath of larches that surrounds the sanctuary, protecting its spirituality.
