The largest Marian Shrine in Giudicariese is a place where both the faithful and tourists can find tranquility and peace. According to legend, a painting of the Virgin was found hanging on a larch.
The town of Bolbeno is home to the largest sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The legend tells how the "painting" of Our Lady of the Rosary was found hanging on a larch, several times moved by the faithful and the following morning found again hanging on the usual larch. The construction of the Chapel in that place was thus decided, creating the clearing that can still be admired today. The sacred image of the "Madonna with Child and Rose in her hand" was from the earliest times called the "Madonna del Lares", perhaps in memory of the larch on which it was found or perhaps for the crown of larches that encloses the place where the sanctuary stands.
