Malga Ritorto: an alpine jewel above Madonna di Campiglio
Among the most evocative and important huts of the Giudicarie stands Malga Ritorto, a historic dairy hut that belongs to the community of Pinzolo. Located at an altitude of 1,738 metres, just above the town of Milegna, this mountain hut tells the story of centuries of pastures and mountain traditions. Here, on a large natural terrace, one of the most exciting views of the whole of Trentino opens up: the Brenta Dolomites stand out imposingly on the horizon, creating a spectacular setting that leaves you breathless in every season. The structure of Malga Ritorto is spacious and well preserved: a large stallion, a spacious masonry house, a woodshed and a modern structure used as a bar-restaurant, all harmoniously covered by the characteristic wooden shingles, which recall the traditional Alpine architecture. The pastures around the hut are still actively used today, thanks to the constant presence of dairy cows during the summer. This guarantees the care of the territory and keeps the traditions linked to the pasture alive. Here you can see the cheese-making process up close, with the transformation of fresh milk into typical cheeses, made according to traditional methods handed down over time.
STRENGTH:
Today, Malga Ritorto is not only an active agricultural centre, but has become one of the most popular panoramic and cultural spots in the Madonna di Campiglio area. A place where nature, tradition and flavours meet to give authentic emotions.
