The San Giorgio Music Band of Castel Condino, together with local associations, is organising a walk through the countryside around Castel Condino to promote and showcase the area, its local specialities, its distinctive landscape and its local history, particularly as it relates to the First World War.
PROGRAMME:
From 9.30 am to 4.00 pm: a food and wine walk through the streets and fields of Castel Condino, with tastings of typical local produce.
First stop: refreshment stop at the "Chiesetta dei morti".
The walk sets off from the village square, followed by a guided tour with a local art critic of the "Chiesetta dei morti" – built in 1836 in memory of the victims of the plague – and a first refreshment stop for breakfast (homemade biscuits, coffee, tea and other hot drinks).
Second stop: trenches at Navalecc.
The walk continues towards "Navalecc" to reach the First World War trenches. Here, a local historian will recount some of the events of the tragedy that affected the Chiese Valley.
Third stop: refreshment point in Pozze.
Continuing along the farm track, you'll reach a recently renovated building that served as an observation post during the 1915–1918 conflict. Here, the refreshment point offers an aperitif with a platter of local produce and musical entertainment.
Fourth stop: lunch area in Piloc.
A short walk along the main road leads to the next meeting point in Piloc, where you can enjoy a lunch of local specialities accompanied by live music. The menu offers a choice of: salmon trout with cabbage and boiled potatoes, or polenta with stew and cabbage.
Fifth stop: refreshment point in Sambe.
After lunch, you’ll head back up towards the village, where you can sample local sweets before continuing on to the historic centre to meet some local farmers who are exhibiting and selling their produce.
