Val di Cercen - The Way of the Valleys

Val di Cercen - The Way of the Valleys title=

A side valley of Val Genova, Val di Cercen is particularly challenging and wild with passages for experienced hikers. The ascent is extremely steep and the use of gpx tracks is recommended.

Val di Cercen is a wonderful and wild valley. At times, it is possible to lose the track due to tall grass and in a couple of places, you must wade the river without the aid of bridges, sometimes impossible when there is too much water. As with almost all the side valleys of Val Genova, the ascent is steep and decisive; hiking poles are recommended.

It is strongly recommended to follow a gpx track to avoid getting lost in less visible sections. To reach the summit, it is necessary to face a technical passage well protected by a cord. No refreshment points are available and reception is almost nil. The valley should not be underestimated and requires good physical and mountaineering preparation.

That said, Val di Cercen is a valley offering incredible views, especially the arrival with a view of the snowfield, and great physical satisfaction. Suggested for those who love to push their limits and do not fear fatigue or isolation. Happy exploring!

NEAREST VALLEYS:

  • From Val di Cercen it is possible to go to Val Gabbiolo crossing the Passo di Scarazon.
However be careful: this crossing is strongly discouraged without the accompaniment of a Mountain Guide, ideal environmental conditions, and excellent mountaineering skills. There is no real trail but only a little visible track on unstable and dangerous terrain.
  • Val di Cercen is accessed from Val Genova.
