Paths of memory
From Val di Genova to Val di Fumo, from the glaciers of the Adamello to the botanical garden of Cima Tombea, from the slopes of Cop di Breguzzo to the valley floors of Val Rendena and Valle del Chiese, wherever you walk you encounter the traces of the conflict that tore through this territory between 1915 and 1918.
A land marked by a deep scar that follows the wartime front line stretching from the peaks of the Cadria Group to the summits of the Adamello-Presanella range.
This line is still visible today thanks to the many remaining traces: the Austro-Hungarian forts of the Lardaro Barrier, trenches at low, միջ and high altitude, barracks built in harsh and almost inaccessible places, observation posts used to spy on the enemy, cableways for transporting supplies, military cemeteries scattered across various locations, and museums where objects forgotten or abandoned at the end of the war have been collected.
Today, this vast heritage, restored and enhanced thanks to the commitment of local administrations, institutions and associations, can be explored through 26 itineraries covering a total distance of nearly 230 km and an overall elevation gain of more than 16,000 metres.
Routes of varying difficulty, to be experienced independently or with a guide, weaving together nature, history and landscape into one great story to listen to, observe and discover.
