From late August to early October, a vibrant calendar of autumn events invites you to discover the authentic traditions of the Valle del Chiese. A celebration of rural heritage and community spirit, these events showcase mountain gastronomy and local specialties through lively parades, cattle shows, hands-on workshops, farm-to-table cuisine, and plenty of entertainment for all ages.
RENDENA HEIFERS
28 August - 5 September
The renowned Rendena cattle breed takes centre stage during a week of celebrations in its native valley. A rich programme of activities for all ages culminates in the eagerly awaited election of the "Reginetta di Pinzolo", the festival’s beloved beauty queen among the heifers. Traditional craft markets, family workshops and live folk music complete the programme, celebrating the area's rural heritage and local traditions.
LA DESMALGADA
13 September
A traditional rural celebration marking the return of cattle from the alpine pastures of the Boniprati plateau. Celebrating its 10th edition, La Desmalgada features the much-loved parade of decorated livestock accompanied by local marching bands, alongside a full day of family activities and the irresistible flavours of traditional mountain cuisine.
MONDO CONTADINO
19-20 September
Mondo Contadino is a weekend entirely dedicated to rural life, bringing the shores of Lake Roncone to life with farming traditions, local culture and authentic flavours. The prestigious Cattle Show attracts breeders, experts and visitors alike, while the delicious "Formai da Mot" delights every palate. Families can enjoy a wide range of activities, alongside the exciting hay-cutting competition and the entertaining Junior Handlers Challenge. The 2026 edition also introduces a brand-new highlight: the evocative cattle parade, making this weekend an unmissable celebration of farming heritage and local traditions.
CUNCIAR EL TEP
25-27 September
Three days dedicated to gastronomy, culture and local history in the beautiful village of Castel Condino. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Valle del Chiese, the event celebrates the village's deep historical roots. On Friday, 25 September, architect Baldracchi from Italia Nostra will lead a special cultural talk. On Saturday, 26 September, the stage belongs to the lively sounds of the Ziganoff – Jazzmer Band. The highlight comes on Sunday, 27 September, with a five-stop food and wine walk through hidden corners of Castel Condino, combining local history, storytelling and tastings of traditional products.
JUDICARIA ECO FESTIVAL
Last weekend of September
In the heart of the Giudicarie Centrali, the Judicaria Eco Festival celebrates the meeting of mountain traditions, local flavours and sustainable initiatives. Visitors can discover ancient crafts through hands-on workshops, meet local producers and enjoy a rich programme designed for the whole family. Traditional mountain cuisine and local food specialties take centre stage alongside the lively Viale dei Sapori ("Taste Avenue") and the inviting Piazza del Gusto ("Taste Square") in Tione di Trento.
POLENTA FESTIVAL
3-4 October
The battle for the coveted Ramina d'Oro (Golden Copper Pot) returns to the Valle del Chiese with the beloved Polenta Festival. Held in Storo, the festival celebrates one of the region's most iconic traditional dishes. Visitors can savour both classic and creative versions of polenta, prepared using the traditional trisa mixing technique, in a gastronomic event that combines local heritage with surprising new flavours. Alongside a packed programme of events, a variety of authentic experiences inspired by the rhythms of the autumn season complete the offer.
